Stephen Howd is a Leeds based barrister specialising in commercial and consumer law. He was educated at Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford, where he took a first degree in Physics. He was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1989, having been the highest placed Middle Temple candidate in the 1989 Bar Exams. He read for an LL.M. at Jesus College, Cambridge, before starting in practice at the Bar. After pupillage in London under Roger Evans (M.P. for Monmouth 1992-97) he practiced for a number of years in Birmingham, before moving to his present Chambers in Leeds in 1998. In October 1998 he appeared in the House of Lords as Counsel for the Claimant in Cook v Financial Insurance Company Ltd.

Stephen Howd lives in Hook, Nr. Goole, and was Deputy Chairman of the Brigg and Goole Conservative Association until his selection as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Cleethorpes in January 2000. He is married with two children and enjoys photography, reading, and travel.
