A “Question Time” style debate with representatives from each political party and an independent candidate in the local council election and a live studio audience was broadcast from the Immage Studios on Channel Seven on Thursday 24th April 2003.
The panel consisted chaired by Alan Mumby, Managing Director of Immage Studios consisted of
Conservative – Margaret Cracknell, Labour – Len Taylor, Liberal Democrats – Andrew de Freitas, an Independent – Ray Lawrance, Member of Youth Parliament – Ruth Jackson
This broadcast, encouraged by ElectionsUK.org, an impartial educational company, is believed to be the first local political debate of its type in the United Kingdom to be shown on a local TV Station.
The debate will be repeated on Channel 7 until Local Election Day on Thursday 1st May.
